It's been a while, so here's some news for your face.
In the last 4 weeks there has been much discussion and argument between the 3 of us regarding The School Game, but despite all of that we have decided on some interesting changes to the game.
Having played The School Game through from beginning to end, it was recognised by all of us that it was too long.
Over a year's work. Not only have I over-reached, but I've been a bit heavy on the 'finishing touches'.
So, quite radically, we’ve decided to split the game into 2 parts.
Very soon, you will hopefully be playing The School Game, Part 1 (or whatever the final name will be)
Then, if all goes to plan, a month or so later you will be playing The School game, Part 2.
There are many reasons for splitting the game in 2. Mainly, because of it’s the length, but also because it helps the story. I can’t go into it in much detail, but in the middle of the game (now the end of Part 1) something big happens, and it seems the perfect place to leave it hanging.
It also fixes the problem of the first half being a bit unfocused on the main plot.
After making this decision though, I stopped work on the game completely for about a week.
Since then though, I’ve implemented almost all of the changes to complete the 1st half.
That’s perhaps an exaggeration… but hey, that’s the sort of guy I am.
I think we’ll be releasing a video of The School Game pretty soon too, so as usual, I can’t be arsed to upload some pictures today.
I’m busy.
So, now it’s been more like 1 and a quarter years I’ve spent on this game…
As much as I love this game in a paternal sense, I wish it would just erase itself from my life.
Like some pathetic person on life support… I should just put it out of its misery.
… I just typed paternal into Google to check if I used it correctly (of which I’m still not sure), and I found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternal_bond
That’s nice. Because David Bowie with his film-director son is the perfect definition of a paternal bond.
Whatever, it made me chuckle…
Other, somewhat unrelated news (like the above), I’m going to see Stewart Lee, Sean Hughes and The Fall, all within a month (comedian, comedian, post-punk group respectively).
Should be fun :)
I shall report back on their varying greatness, even though not a single person reading this will know or care about either one of these people.
More news soon.
