EDIT [July 7th 2016]

I can see through our site analytics that we continue to get a lot of visitors to this particular blog post from search engines and elsewhere.

A few months ago I posted in the comments below detailing the current plans for Wasted Youth, but I figured I might as well reiterate it here for better visiblity. The content of the old blog post below is pretty irrelevant now, 5 years on.

A remake of Wasted Youth is currently underway, unifying Parts 1 and 2 into a single game.

It is not being deisgned in Flash or for online portals like Kongregate and Newgrounds. The plan is pretty simple and not particularly well-thought out if I'm honest.

Once the game is complete (or rather 'if' - I'm not exactly reliable when it comes to completing projects recently) I'd like to get it on Steam and similar online game marketplaces.

There might be Kickstarter or Patreon before release as there's quite a lot that goes into this that needs to be paid for. It seems rather unlikely I can arrange a deal with an online sponsor this time round, so to pay some of the costs I think I'll require a little help.

'Remake' is a bit of an icky term but that essentially is what it is.

Elements of Part 1 have been changed to suit this re-ienvisioning of Wasted Youth. Plot-wise, most of it is the same. Myself and Rich are working on a re-jigged version that we believe is better than what we previously had planned.

It's not in my interest to override whatever 'charm' or 'magic' that made Part 1 so enjoyable for the fans. I hope you can trust us that we won't bastardise it into something unrecognisable or shitty.

So if you're still interested in Wasted Youth, please come along for the ride.

I'm considerably more active on the blog and social media than I was and posting updates regularly.

I've been a bit slow to realise what a gift this site and your support really was. I've always been happy to respond to messages but I found messages of good-will very easy to overlook.

It's only in the last year or so that I've realised what a silly thing it was to be cynical about my own work and your appreciation thereof, looking back I'm quite touched that so many people have communicated their of our work, and I can continue for many years to serve that purpose in some form or other.

I've left the old post below, but please remember it was written in 2011 before Wasted Youth, Part 1 was even released. It's interesting to see how I was thinking at the time but really it's just a relic.

Also please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions or just to say hi.

Original Blog Post [February 15th 2011]

I’ve been meaning to do a news post for a weeks now.

Here’s the updates:

Wasted Youth, Part 1 is still up for bid on FlashGameLicense.com. Currently, we’re a little disappointed with the feedback from sponsors, but critically, it’s very popular.

I estimate a couple more weeks… Unless things go really wrong.

As for Wasted Youth, Part 2, it’s been put further on hold. This is due to the lack of reception for the first part so I’m not too crazy about finishing it soon, and because I would like to start and finish a project within a month.

So currently I’ve got something like 8 projects all on the boil, so I might as well list them to those of you who are interested:

Game 1 – Struggle / Snow Blind

A game where you control an injured man who has fallen from a great height and broken his legs while mountain climbing.
The game will involve simply crawling across a large landscape. At nightfall you have to hunker down and keep yourself warm.
The idea is to present the game like a genuine struggle. It will be repetitive and difficult, and if you die, then you’re dead.
I just want to say here that this idea IS NOT stolen from ‘127 Hours’… I took it from the documentary ‘Touching the Void’, instead!

Game 2 – Asplosion

Another ragdoll game – Control a terrorist bomber (not the Islamic Extremist kind, the Oklahoma Bomber style un-racist one) by launching him into crowd of people. Firstly knocking people down and breaking limbs hopefully, then explode and control your ragdoll’s carcass and cause much more havoc and destruction. You are rated by how much money in damages you’ve caused and how many people you’ve ‘sploded.

Game 3 – Meteor Zone

No ragdolls in this, but it is another physics game.
Each level consists of a landscape containing groups of people.
You have a set amount of time to build shelter for them with the blocks provided. Then there is a meteor shower. You are rated by how many people you saved and with how few blocks.
This idea is the one I’m currently working on. It’s the most though out technically.

And then there’s Bunny Invasion 3, Wasted Youth, Part 2, Mutant Uprising 2…
Also, Dave is making a game himself, (finally!) but that could take ages frankly (He’s very slow).

There’s a lot to do.

We’ll hopefully release Wasted Youth, Part 1 very soon, certainly no less than 4 weeks.
So be prepared!
